Hi Carlos_A,

 

I have been out of the office for a few days, please see answers to your questions below:

 

  • The tools were provided to me via Avnet
  • The tools are form a package titled "Quartzville Tools_434998"
  • The Document is "eeupdate.txt" and is Titled "Intel (R) EEUpdate Release Notes April 21, 2016"
  • The tool itself is "EEUPDATEW64e.exe" see properties details page snapshot below

 

I will get screen shots of me running the tool and the data returned and forward to you as soon as I can.

HI Carlos_A,

 

The design has been developed by us. The schematic has previously been checked by Intel.

 

Here is a screenshot of me running the eeupdate tool with the invmget command

 

 

Strangely what I am now seeing is when i run this command multiple times I get different outputs. One that looks valid

 

 

and one that looks like an error

 

 

Any ideas why this could be happening. Does this indicate that the device is falling to communicate some times?

i use Quartzville.zip & I210_I211_Production_images.zip

For set Dev_Start_I210_Copper_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin:

     /opt/intel/lan/eeupdate32 /NIC=1 /D Dev_Start_I210_Copper_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin

     after reboot, it's successful.With mac address intel default.

     No message error but i have always same address default intel.

Unreliable DIMM B operation in Haswell based design

Dear Embedded Community,

 

We have a Haswell based processor design.  It has two DIMMs,

one connected to each of the two DDR controllers.  The "A"

DIMM appears to work.  The "B" DIMM gets occasional errors

and the processor will often crash during booting Linux or

some time afterwards.

 

We are seeing some differences between the "A" and "B" DIMM

signals.  We have been triggering on ODT.  We believe that when

ODT is high, this should mean that the processor is driving DQS

and data towards the DIMM.

 

In the attached traces, the pink signal is ODT and the yellow and

blue signals are DQSxP/N.

 

In the attached trace for DIMM A DQS7, APR2i_A_DQS7_ODT.tif,

during ODT we get what we would expect: ODT asserted, followed

by eight clock edges then ODT deasserted.

 

But in the attached trace for B DQS2, APR2i_B_DQS2_ODT.tif,

during ODT we get an initial bad clock transition.  Followed

by some O.K. clocks, then clock seven seems to be just plain

missing.  I particularly don't understand the missing clock.

 

The DIMM "B" trace lengths follow the requirements in the

Haswell Desktop and Denlow-WS Platform Design Guide, 486711

 

Is there any explanation that you can give us for the very

odd behaviour of the clocks on the "B" DIMM?

 

We can send the Allegro .brd layout file if this would be useful. 

Does Intel offer a layout examination service?  This would be very

helpful.  We have had the schematics looked at by Intel in the past.

Hi. Thank you for the information.

I'm having difficulties with privileged access. Can't even find how to contact a representative in Brazil to get the CNDA signed.

The prototype boards are assembled and tested excluding the I210 network interfaces, making our client impatient.

Problem with intefacing i210 to SGMII 1000BASE-T SFP module

Hello!

 

We are developing  device that have an i210 connected to SGMII SFP module.

 

After assembling device, the i210 detected by host processor(also on device) as

"I210 Blank NVM Device" with device id 0x1531.

 

After that, we flashing attached flash with eeupdate tool with following commad:

eeupdate.exe /nic=1 /data="Dev_Start_I210_Sgmii_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin".

 

After successfuly flashing, i210 not detecting by any driver including one for eeupdate(it disappears from eeupdate output).

We also tried Dev_Start_I210_SerdesKX_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin and Dev_Start_I210_Fiber_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin

firmware files. In first case device detected by driver as "Intel(R) I210 Gigabit Backplane Connection", but connected network(via SFP) is unreachable.

In second case i210 was not detected by drivers at all.

 

Also on that device is second I210 that works with copper media. We flashed it in the way described above with Dev_Start_I210_Copper_NOMNG_16Mb_A2_3.25_0.03.bin,

and it works properly.

 

How can we make i210 work with SGMII SFP?

 

Additional info:

OS: Windows 7

SFP module: P-Link based on Marvell 88E1111

Driver version: 12.13.27.0

EEUPDATE version: 5.25.08.01

Attached flash: ST M25P128
